The net weight powder filler machine highlighted here serves both food and pharmaceutical applications. Previously, customers have had to rely on volumetric controls to fill containers with powder. With the new net weight powder filler, a much higher degree of precision and product consistency can be achieved. The machine is fabricated from high quality 304 and 316 stainless steel. The inside of the product tank is polished to a .2 micron mirror finish to prevent powder bridging and minimize product waste.

WEIGHTPACK, Inc's patented system uses counter screws to continuously feed powder through the nozzle to prevent the powder from bridging. Each screw is driven by an independent servo motor. If a load cell failure occurs, the filler can continue in production based on the time and volume data contained in the control of the servo motor, until the weight cell can be replaced. The volume and speed of the machine are designed according to the customer's specifications. Additional features include operator interfaces and mechanical cappers, which can be added as needed to fit customer's applications. ComponentsThe Current Machine to be introduced at Pack Expo in Chicago in late October is a rotary Net Weight Filler only. However, if applicable in the future, the system can include multiple functions such as:
Monobloc Filler/Capper
  • Weighing systems communicate with the HMI (Human Machine Interface)
  • Operator can receive or send data to the machine
  • Weighing Station is composed of :
    • a nozzle
    • bottle clamp to position bottle under nozzle
    • a weight cell at each station below bottle platform
    • dedicated electrical components
  • Mechanical Capper (when appropriate)
Features
  • Patented System of counter screws to continuously feed powder to each fill nozzle (this avoids any possible "bridging" of the product)
  • Each screw is motorized by an independent servo motor. In case there is a load cell failure, the filler can continue in production based on a time/volume recipe control of the servo motor, until the weight cell can be replaced.
  • All moving elements have Torque Limiters

In process testing/inspection performed
  • Net Weight Cells under each container on filler turret record:
    • If empty container meets preset weight range
    • Exact net fill weight of every container
    • Any container not meeting standards is automatically marked for rejection
  • Sensors on capper turret sense missing or improperly applied caps and mark the container for rejection
