For an application requiring a spray nozzle cap, WEIGHTPACK, Inc. developed this electronic trigger inserter. When synchronized as part of our internally manufactured capper, it offers the most advanced and innovative technology available today. The patented design of the insertion cam requires only an electronic adjustment for different length straws on the trigger mechanism, allowing very quick change over for different height bottles.

Two-phase operation consists of inserting the correct length pump tube into the container, followed by electronically controlled precision torqueing of the screw-on part of the trigger cap. The ability to deliver a regulated 0.02 - 6 Nm torque for each cap enables the equipment to handle special applications, such as fragile, press-on, or locking caps. Torque adjustments can be made in real time without stopping production, and changing the size on the capper does not require any special tools. The system is electronically adjustable for the length of the tube and the height of the bottle, and after a size change production can be resumed immediately at full speed. Quality is assured by using specialized sensors to determine if the trigger cap has been properly placed and torqued onto each bottle, and out of range containers are marked for rejection.

  • Functional Characteristics specific to the Trigger Inserter/Capper:
    • The capping function of the Pump Inserter Capper comes in two successive phases:
      • Insertion of the pump tube into the container
      • Electronically controlled torqueing of the screw-on part of the cap, or press-on or locked-in-position caps.
  • The pump mechanism is selected and oriented by the appropriate sorter, and arrives, by means of the transport channel, at the transfer star for the insertion of the tube in the container.
  • The transfer and insertion star, acts as a PICK & PLACE star for the Electronic Head of the capper.
  • The individual capping heads lift the pumps from the transfer star by means of appropriate capping chucks, controlled in their opening and closing function by the double cam of the capper. Then the servo motors on each individual capping head insure a constant and accurate capping torque on the screw-on part of the cap, and/or a press-on or lock-in-position cap.
  • Adjustments:
    • The trigger insertion star is adjustable based on the size change required (length of the tube and height of the bottle).
  • Change Parts:
    • All change parts are designed with a system of quick insert and lock mechanisms that are quickly positioned and locked in place without the need of any further adjustment.
  • Restart of production after a size change allows an immediate start, at the maximum assigned production speed.
In process testing/inspection performed
  • The Capper is equipped with appropriate sensors that determine if a trigger type cap has been properly placed and torqued on to the bottle. Any discrepancies mark that container for rejection at the discharge of the capper.
